Are there different types of Master's programmes?
Yes, there are three types of Master's programmes, as follows:
- Professional Masters | Four courses and four associated research tasks
- LLM or MPhil by coursework & dissertation | Four courses and a minor dissertation (25,000 words)
- LLM or MPhil by research | Research only, dissertation (40,000 words)
Must I have an LLB to do a Master's in Law?
Not necessarily. Here are your options:
To do an LLM, you will need to have an LLB degree.However, some Professional Masters (PM) programmes (Commercial Law and Dispute Resolution) do not require an LLB, but all applicants must have an NQF 8 qualification or equivalent.
