Judge Kate Savage

Kate Savage is a Judge of the Western Cape High Court. She has acted as a Judge in the Supreme Court of Appeal, Labour Appeal Court and Competition Appeal Court of South Africa. In addition she currently serves as a Judge of the United Nations Appeals Tribunal. Before her appointment to the bench, she had over twenty five years’ experience in the legal profession as an attorney involved with litigation and arbitration. She has been employed by the Legal Resources Centre’s Constitutional Litigation Unit, the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), various commercial law firms and the ANC’s Constitutional Commission during the drafting of the final South African Constitution. Prior to her move into the judiciary in 2012, Kate was appointed as arbitrator in numerous disputes and had had extensive mediation and facilitation experience. She has served on the Board of the Southern African Legal Information Institute (SAFLII) for more than 15 years and was previously a trustee of the Constitutional Court Trust.
