Ms Chetty has spent most of her working career in the tertiary academic environment, having worked as a librarian at UKZN and then as a systems manager at UCT. In both roles her focus has been on how to help employees utilise systems and processes efficiently and effectively. Her position as the student systems manager at UCT required her to understand business and systems processes relating to academic administration, student fees, financial aid, student housing application and offers, international student offers, National Benchmark Testing, Summer School and short course offerings. Sashni’s Master’s dissertation interrogated how UCT staff utilise the PeopleSoft system, deal with system and learning challenges as well as access channels and resources to overcome such challenges. Sashni is currently the warden of Graca Machel Hall residence and a PHD student. Her PHD research involves first year learning experiences of black students using a community of practice lens to understand learning processes that may improve throughput and student retention.
