UCT Law@Work goes online - short courses at your desktop
The University of Cape Town’s Law@Work unit and AfricaLegal have partnered up to bring world-class legal education short courses to students across the continent via an easy-to-access online platform. Short, sharp professional development courses will now be easier to access for those in remote and rural locations provided they can access the internet, as well as for those wanting to update their knowledge and skills but who don't have time to travel to UCT to do the courses in person. The cost of the courses have also been contained to make them affordable.
UCT's Law@Work unit has been offering professional development short courses since 1999. Their partnering with AfricaLegal heralds a new era for Law@Work in being able to take short courses to the rest of the continent. AfricaLegal, as a tech start-up that focuses on the law, is providing the platform to enable this pan-African access. The first online course - Corporate Governance - will be available at the start of 2019. Students who complete the course will receive a University of Cape Town certificate.
