Access to justice and online courts

The Faculty's Democratic Governance &Rights Unit (DGRU) held a panel discussion on this topic on Weds 7 April, in partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation. Judges and advocates discussed the advantages and challenges of South African courts moving to virtual hearings while problems with internet access and data costs continue to create an unequal terrain. At the event, speakers provided key insights into practical experience & analysis of online courts. The seminar concluded with the launch of DGRU's training video on how to conduct online court hearings.
