Dean of Law, Professor Danwood Chirwa, expresses the Faculty’s deepest sympathies and condolences to Judy Croome and family on the passing of Dr Beric Croome.  Tax law expert and UCT Law Alumnus (PhD 2007), Dr Croome will be remembered for his many achievements and contributions to the field of tax law, particularly taxpayer rights.

Professor Hugh Corder, who was Dr Croome’s PhD co-supervisor, also notes - in addition to Dr Croome’s important contribution to South Africa’s legal profession as a chartered accountant, Advocate and tax expert – his generous support of the Faculty’s Scholarship Endowment Fund over many years.

To build on this legacy, Beric and his family have requested that, should you wish to make a memorial contribution, any donations be made in his memory to the University of Cape Town’s Law Endowment Fund, in support of tax law scholarships. Donations are tax-deductible under section 18A of the Income Tax Act.
