Women achievers at UCT Law

The Faculty is very proud of a number of its staff who have received great awards in 2018.  Two of these women are Professor Caroline Ncube (left) and Associate Professor Jacqueline Yeats (right).

Prof Ncube was awarded the Research Chair in Intellectual Property, Innovation and Development through the South African Research Chairs Initiative (SARChI).

"This comes as a well-deserved acknowledgement of Ncube’s contribution to the field of intellectual property law and her focus on the promotion of public interest and innovation. Ncube is the fourth research chair in the law faculty and she joins more than 40 others across UCT. Associate Professor Jacqui Yeats was awarded one of only four UCT Distinguished Teacher Awards. The Distinguished Teacher Award is the highest accolade awarded to teaching staff at all levels within the university, and is acknowledgment of the primary place of teaching and learning in the university’s work. All full-time academic staff who have taught students at the institution for at least 3 years are eligible - more detail on the award and its criteria and process can be found here.  Not only a distinguished teacher, Associate Prof Yeats is involved in a number of national tertiary teaching advancement initiatives.  Her award is celebrated on the UCT News platform here.
