JIFA hosts its first Judicial Leaders Retreat

During the week of the 24-28 July 2017, the Judicial Institute for Africa (JIFA) hosted its inaugural Judicial Leaders Retreat in Cape Town. The retreat was attended by 7 Chief Justices from the SADC, as well as 11 senior judges. Faculty included former South African Constitutional Court justices Dikgang Moseneke and Kate O’Regan; the Chief Justice of Malawi, Andrew K.C. Nyirenda; and, Supreme Court of Appeal of New York Judge, Karen Peters. Dean and Professor of the Law Faculty at the University of Cape Town, Penelope Andrews, hosted Justice Sotomayor, in conversation on 27 July 2017. The final day of the Judicial Leaders Retreat was concluded by Former Constitutional Court Justice, Albie Sachs, in conversation with Justice Sotomayor.
