Head Teaching and Research Assistant (TRA)

Molefi Mosanteli is a Senior TRA in the Department of Commercial Law and is currently a TRA for service courses (Business Law, Company Law and Law for Engineers). He hold an LLB (NUL) and an LLM in Commercial Law (UCT) and is pursuing his PhD, also in Commercial Law. His particular research interests are in corporate law, tax law and the intersection of the law with digitalisation.

 

Undergraduate Teaching Research Assistant (TRA)

Luyanda Xulu is a TRA at the Department of Commercial Law, tutoring Corporations Law to Intermediate Year LLB Students. He graduated with distinction from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in 2023 and has been awarded two scholarships by UCT to pursue his LLM with a specialization in Insolvency Law. Prior to his current role, Luyanda served as a Business Law Tutor at UJ, where he was later promoted to the Senior Tutor position in 2023, supervising, coordinating, and mentoring other tutors. He is dedicated to academic excellence and aims for a career in academia.

 

Jared Levy is a TRA in the Department of Commercial Law and tutors Commercial Transactions Law to final year students. He graduated from UCT in 2021 with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSocSc) degree majoring in Politics and Law with a distinction in Politics and Governance and completed his LLB in 2023. He is currently studying towards an LLM by coursework with a focus on Tax Law, Banking Law, and Intellectual Property Law.

 

Kgothatso Maja is a TRA in the Department of Commercial Law and tutors Labour Law. She completed her LLB at the University of Johannesburg (2020). She is studying towards her LLM Coursework with a minor dissertation in Human Rights Law. Her interest within the field of law are Criminology, Criminal Justice, and African studies. Her other interests include Psychology. She is an advocate for self-development. She further believes that her past has taught her that it is not how intelligent you are, but how hard you are willing to work; how much you are willing to be taught and what you yourself can teach others as well.

Post Graduate Teaching and Research Assistants

Zoë Almano is Post-Graduate TRA for the Department of Commercial Law. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with majors in English Language & Literature and Law from the University of Cape Town. In 2022 she completed her LLB and in 2023 she completed her Master’s in Intellectual Property Law (LLM), both from UCT. She is currently pursuing her PhD and has particular interest in intellectual property, technology, and private international law.

 

Wesley Mwafulirwa, Post Graduate TRA at the Department of Commercial Law. With a background in law, Wesley earned his LLB (Hons) from the University of Malawi and an MA (cum laude) from the International Anti-Corruption Academy in Austria. Currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Cape Town, Wesley's research focuses on the intersectionality between law and technology. Passionate about exploring the dynamic relationship between these fields, Wesley brings a fresh perspective to the academic community.
