Nate is a Ph.D. Candidate under the South African Research Chair in Intellectual Property, Innovation and Development in the Department of Commercial Law. His doctoral research considers how intellectual property can be leveraged to strengthen innovation for climate adaptation in Africa. Alongside his studies, he is a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant in Commercial Law and is currently affiliated with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He is also a doctoral researcher with the New and Emerging Researchers Group (NERGs) under the Open African Innovation Research (OpenAIR) network. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Portsmouth, a Master of International Economics and Finance from The University of Queensland Australia and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Cape Town.
