Elizabeth de Stadler

Adjunct Senior Lecturer

Bio

Elizabeth is adjunct senior lecturer in the Department of Private Law. She has taught on plain language drafting and contract design on the Advanced Contract Law LLM for many years. She also regularly teaches short courses for UCT's Law@work, including on plain language drafting and contract design.

She is a Director of Novation Consulting, and of Hey Plain Jane and Rehabilitated Lawyer. She has BA LLB degrees from Stellenbosch University. Her LLM cum laude from UCT is on the scope of application of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008. She is an admitted (rehabilitated) attorney, specialising in compliance and risk management strategy, plain language drafting, and privacy law.

She has written and contributed to many books and articles, which have been cited by the courts, National Consumer Tribunal, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud and academic authors. She is regularly interviewed and quoted in media on various technology-related topics. She is an in-demand speaker at corporates, as well as local and international events. She regularly does training in her fields of expertise.
