Department of Private Law

Private Law is focused on the legal interests of individuals in society. All private law can be tested against the Constitution, with particular reference to the Bill of Rights. Department is home to academics focused on a broad range of specialist areas. These interest areas in the department are pursued by individual academics, who teach and research in their particular area (and often in related areas), and also within dedicated research units.
