Marco Da Silva Moniz - Head TA in Private Law
Marco is the Head Teaching Assistant in the Department of Private Law and tutors Foundations of South African Law, the Law of Succession and the Law of Property. He graduated from UCT with a Bachelor of Laws (2022) and Bachelor of Commerce in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (2017). Marco’s interests include legal theory, legal history, constitutional and human rights law.
Anesu holds an LLB (2021) from the University of Cape Town and completed her LLM in 2024. She is currently a doctoral candidate and a Teaching Assistant in the Private Law Department. She tutors the Law of Persons and Family, the Law of Succession, and the Law of Contract. Her areas of interest lie in the intersection between law and psychology, private law and human rights, and criminal justice
Art is a teaching assistant in the Department of Private Law and tutors courses in the Law of Contract, Delict, and Property. He graduated from UCT with a Bachelor of Music in 2020 and a Bachelor of Laws in 2023. He is currently studying towards a Master of Laws by coursework and minor dissertation, and has a particular interest in the law of obligations.
I am a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Private Law. I tutor Foundations of South African Law, the Law of Succession, and African Customary Law. I graduated with my LLB from the University of Cape Town in 2021. I am currently completing my LLM with a minor dissertation in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Cape Town. Prior to returning to the University of Cape Town to pursue a masters I completed my practical vocational training at a medium sized law firm, specialising in Litigation and Intellectual Property Law. My areas of interest include Intellectual Property and Commercial Law.
Joshua is a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Private Law. He tutors the Law of Delict, the Law of Contract and Jurisprudence. He holds a BA with distinction in Law (2021) and an LLB magna cum laude (2023). His interests include: the intersection of private and public law, theories of private rights, and assessing the coherence between differing branches of law.
I completed my BA with distinction (English Literature and Drama) at Rhodes University, and subsequently read for my LLB at UCT. I completed my pupillage at the Cape Bar and passed the NBEB bar exams. While I was a student I chaired two mountain clubs, taught yoga and meditation and headed up the student advice programme for SLSJ. Currently I am considering what Masters or PHD to undertake in the future. I love hiking, swimming in the sea, meditation and having fun with my family and friends.
Oliver is a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Private Law. He graduated with a BCom, specialising in Economics and Law, in 2021 and an LLB in 2023, both at UCT. He has a wide range of interests within and outside of law, with particular interests in Intellectual Property law. He tutors Private Law: Systems and Context, the Law of Property and Jurisprudence.
Siphe is a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Private Law. He completed his BSocSc; Politics and Governance, Sociology and (Gender Studies) African Feminist Studies (with distinction) in 2020. In 2023, he completed his LLB, both degrees from UCT. He is currently a Masters candidate at the institution. His interests include Property Law, land reform theory, intersectional feminist theory and films. He tutors Private Law: Systems and Context, Law of Persons and Family and the Law of Property.
Sky is a second-year Teaching Assistant tutoring Foundations of South African Law, Private Law: Systems and Context, African Customary Law and Jurisprudence. He holds a BA Law with distinction and an LLB with distinction from the University of Pretoria and has recently completed his LLM by dissertation in international and domestic refugee law at UCT. Sky’s research interests include issues relating to human mobility, colonialism and distributional justice.
Ukhanyo is a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Private Law. He tutors Foundations of South African Law, SysCon and African Customary Law. He is currently completing his LLM with a minor dissertation in Constitutional & Administrative Law at the University of Cape Town having graduated from the same institution with a Bachelor of Laws (2023). Ukhanyo’s area of interests include constitutional and administrative law. He is particularly interested in Constitution-making, transformative constitutionalism and the intersection between decoloniality and post-conquest constitutions.
