EESI, the Environmental Entrepreneurs Support Initiative of the Global Risk Governance Programme at the University of Cape Town scouts for talented and motivated entrepreneurs in the environmental field to boost their impact. In 2016/17, Beyond Environmental Expectation Environmental Project (BEEP) and EESI cemented their partnership by boosting the mentoring capacity for 40 young BEEP mentors. The BEEP mentors hail from township-based schools in Cape Town, and range in age from 15-18. EESI is supported by the Mauerberger Foundation.

In their role as a BEEP mentors, they are enlisted to take up responsibilities within the organisation: from facilitating environmental workshops to taking younger members on overnight hikes on Table Mountain. On the 20th October, 2017, 40 BEEP mentors gathered at the UCT Law Faculty to reflect on their year as mentors. A report of the day's reflection can be found here >>>.
