Mr Alton Samuels
Bio
Alton Samuels was born in the Stellenbosch, where he also completed his primary, secondary and tertiary education. He obtained his LLB (2008) and LLM (2010) at Stellenbosch University, and spent three years (2008-2011) as a research intern at the South African Chair in Property Law hosted by Stellenbosch University under the guidance of the late Prof AJ van der Walt.
Alton is currently a LLD candidate at Stellenbosch University under the sueprvision of Prof Marius De Waal. The topic of his thesis is ‘A comparative analysis of mechanisms to address non-compliance with testamentary formalities, with special emphasis on the position in South African law.’
Alton previously lectured in the Law Faculties at NorthWest University and University of the Western Cape.
He is an admitted advocate and a member of the Cape Bar, and runs a civil litigation practice with a keen interest in the law of Succession and Property law.
Alton enjoys eading, watching and playing sports (cricket, football and rugby) and enjoys singing in his church choir.
