The Harvard Law School’s Institute for Global Law and Policy’s Global Scholars Academy is an intensive residential experience designed to enable junior faculty and post-doctoral scholars drawn from across the world to engage in sustained, interdisciplinary, peer-to-peer collaboration under the close mentorship of research faculty drawn from the world’s top universities. This year it was held in Stellenbosch in July 2024. It offered a unique interdisciplinary curriculum and included thematic minicourses, plenary lectures, round tables and writing workshops on a range of topics. Eighty junior faculty were selected to participate. Professor Sandy Paterson was invited to present an interactive round-table discussion titled the “Future of Climate Change Law – What is in it for Conservation”. The discussion, which brought an African-centered perspective, sought to introduce and engage participants on the broad range of issues falling within the scope of this topic.
