Dr Denning Metuge
11 Jan 2024

In January 2024, IMEL warmly welcomes Dr Denning Metuge to our team and congratulate him on his appointment in the Department of Public Law at the University of Cape Town. Denning joins us as a Senior Lecturer and brings unique and valued insights on the law of the sea and marine spatial planning. Denning lectured and engaged in curriculum development at Nelson Mandela University before joining IMEL. We very much look forward to collaborating with Denning.

In addition, we wish Prof. Alexander (Sandy) Paterson a productive sabbatical during 2024. Sandy will be advancing his important research, including on how land use planning (such as strategic infrastructure projects) impacts and conflicts with biodiversity conservation. During Sandy's sabbatical our Land Use Planning Law (PBL5641F) course will not be on offer. Associate Prof. Melanie Murcott will be temporarily stepping into Sandy's shoes as programme convener for IMEL's postgraduate offerings for the year. Please feel free to contact Melanie with any questions about our programmes.
