Students Celebrate Completing Lectures for International Environmental Law
This year’s cohort of students taking the International Environmental Law course recently celebrated completing their coursework with a drink overlooking Table Mountain together with the course conveners, Sandy Paterson and Amanda Mkhonza. During their second week-long teaching block run at the Law Faculty in early October, the students grappled with international law and policy relating to fresh-water resources, hazardous substances, atmospheric pollution, climate change and the polar regions. They furthermore celebrated completing their main research paper which saw them critically exploring the link between human rights law and international environmental law, highly relevant given the United Nations General Assembly recognizing a right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment as a human right in July 2022.
