Our Teaching Philosophy
Underpinning our approach to Critical Teaching is a commitment to transformative legal pedagogies and teaching that is responsive to context and connected to practice, and that stimulates students and scholars to think innovatively about contemporary issues at the intersection of law and society. Our teaching aims to inspire mutually transformative learning that produces engaged practitioners and thought leader communities who understand the socio-legal nexus and challenges social injustice. Through our teaching programme CLS seeks to influence and nurture critical, relevant and socially-responsive thinking in students by exposing them to various contexts and skills for mobilisation towards constitutional questions. Our teaching programme, while primarily located within the law faculty and targeted at law students, extends beyond the faculty and university boundary.
