LARC participates in Strategic Planning Workshop of the National Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development
Nolundi Luwaya, Director of the Land and Accountability Research Centre (LARC), was invited to contribute to the Strategic Planning Workshop of the National Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development, which took place at Saldanha Bay Hotel from 3-5 September 2025.
The purpose of the strategic workshop was to assess challenges in land reform and rural development and to set clear strategic oversight priorities for the committee for the 2025-2029 parliamentary term. Ms Luwaya presented on "Communal Land Tenure in Transition: Towards Secure Rights and Accountability", focusing on the assessment of communal tenure governance, the challenges faced by communities, and opportunities for reform. Additionally, she offered recommendations on oversight tools that Parliament can use to enhance accountability and tenure security.
