Justice Schei was appointed as Chief Justice in 2002 and was a Justice in the Supreme Court for 16 years prior to that.
Hassen Ebrahim is the author of “Soul of a nation: constitution making in South Africa”. In 1992 he became the national co-ordinator for the ANC's Negotiations Commission. While serving as an MP in the Gauteng Legislature in 1994 he was appointed Executive Director of the Constitutional Assembly, a position he held throughout the Assembly's term until 1996. In 1997 he became the Deputy Director General of Corporate Services in the Department of Justice. He is currently a senior mediation expert in Constitution making at the UN.
