Emeritus Professor Clifford Shearing

Clifford is a Professor Emeritus, Department of Public Law, University of Cape Town.  He is also a Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto and an Honorary Professor at the Australian National University.  He co-leads the Centre of Criminology’s Global Risk Governance programme with Annette Hübschle.  At UCT Clifford has been the Chair of Criminology (2006-2013), the Director of the Centre of Criminology (2006-2013), held the South African National Research Foundation’s Research Chair (SARChI) in Security and Justice (2007-2014), was a Senior Research Scholar in Public Law (2014-2021), was elected a member of UCT's College of Fellows in 2014, and was a South African National Research Foundation A-rated scholar (2007-2018).
