Ruvarashe is a PhD Candidate and Doctoral Researcher, specialising in green hydrogen laws and policies. She is also a course tutor at the MERLiA Chair.

- Makonese, R “South Africa’s Draft Mineral Resources Development Bill, 2025: Will discretionary powers hinder beneficiation?” Presented at Mineral Law in Africa Colloquium IX Swakopmund, Namibia (24 November 2025).
- Makonese, R presented her PhD research at a conference at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. The conference was titled Training the Future Generations: Hydrogen and the Law. The student’s presentation focused on African green hydrogen contracts, and how such contracts between Africa and Europe can be mutually beneficial.
