The Health Justice Initiative and Mandela Institute,TRIPS Webinar Series : Webinar 1: Legal and Policy Issues Arising out of the Proposed TRIPS Waiver, 10 August 2021
Prof. Caroline Ncube participated in the TRIPS Webinar Series organized by the Health Justice Institute and the Mandela Institute. Webinar 1 addressed the Legal Policy Issues Arising out of the Proposed TRIPS Waiver. Her presentation was titled South Africa: With (out) a TRIPS Waiver. The presentation mainly discussed what can be done with and without TRIPS waiver, in terms of South Africa’s domestic legislation. The São Paulo Innovation and Science Diplomacy School – InnSciDSP Innovation and Science Diplomacy Workshop (9 - 13 August 2021)
Prof. Caroline Ncube delivered a lecture titled “The International IP regime – an academic perspective”, during the InnSciD SP 2021 + TWAS Science Diplomacy LAC Regional Workshop, on August 11, 2021 as part of the week long program.
The lecture highlighted recent development in the international IP regime, specifically focussing on the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In doing so, it discussed the importance of leveraging on science and global health diplomacy for managing the COVID-19 pandemic, consequently, drawing the intersection of science and IP. WIPO-NIPMO Advanced Workshop on IP Innovation Policy, 16 - 27August 2021
The workshop was offered by WIPO jointly with the National Intellectual Property Management Office of South Africa (NIPMO) for the benefit of developing countries and specifically to enhance the skills and knowledge of officials from relevant Ministries or public institutions dealing with innovation policy and IP strategies.
Professor Caroline Ncube co-moderated a session on the Methodology for the Development and Formulation of Good IP Strategies and Policies on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
