Update: Community Trust Project: Sekhukhune region, Limpopo

Between September 2023 and July 2024, LARC’s mining team was in the Sekhukhune region of the Limpopo province to conduct fact verification sessions for its Community Trust Project. LARC conducted four fact-verification sessions with community members in their study to confirm the accuracy of the data collected during the team’s fieldwork in 2019. LARC was assisted by members of the Sekhukhune Combined Mining Accepted Communities non-profit organisation in carrying out this task. The fact verification sessions were well attended and welcomed by community members. The sessions also created an engaging platform to co-create solutions regarding community trust issues with mining-affected community members involved in the study. The mining team is currently writing up its research report and incorporating the insights of the community members into their report.
