LARC at symposium on Khoi and San recognition

On 13 and 14 March 2024, Monica de Souza Louw, Fezeka Ntsanwisi and Kyle Janse attended a research symposium hosted by the Commission on Khoi-San Matters. The Commission is tasked with making recommendations to government on the recognition of Khoi and San communities and leaders in terms of the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act 3 of 2019. LARC has closely tracked the development and implementation of this statute and provided research support in the case of Mogale v Speaker of the National Assembly, in which the Act was struck down on procedural grounds by the Constitutional Court.
