Dr Anthea-Lee September-Van Huffel
Bio
Dr Anthea-lee September-Van Huffel is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town (UCT), Private Law department. Anthea-lee holds LLB and LLM degrees from the University of the Western Cape, and an LLD degree from the University of the Free State. Anthea-lee was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and practiced in property law at Edward Nathan and Sonnenbergs and Webber Wentzel, Sandton Johannesburg. Her scientific primary research fields are comparative private law with specialisation in areas of land reform and governance, constitutional property law, state regulation and custodianship in access, use and benefit of natural resources. Her research objectives are the strengthening of secure land tenure rights to improve socioeconomic conditions, social justice, and sustainable development. Anthea-lee contributes toward community engagement on different platforms, she is passionate about interdisciplinary research and has provided academic opinion to organisations, rural land and farming communities, and is cited in the media and newspapers. She has conducted interviews and guest lectures in her research field and has presented at national and international conferences. She is a keen collaborator and believes in the cross-pollination of ideas and knowledge for the benefit of all peoples.
