Emeritus Professor Jonathan Burchell is a Fellow of the University of Cape Town and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, who has published widely in criminal law and personality rights. His book Principles of Criminal Law, now in its sixth edition, is published by Juta under the title Burchell’s Principles of Criminal Law (2025, co-authored with PJ Schwikkard and Tshepo Mosaka). He holds a PhD (Wits): LLM, Diploma in Comparative Legal Studies (Cambridge); and BA LLB (UKZN).
